Located on Highway 333 in Indian Harbour, next to Peggy's Cove, Cottage-by-the-Sea is an ideal home base for exploring Nova Scotia's wonderful South Shore, where charming communities like Chester, Mahone Bay and historic, World Heritage Town, Lunenburg invite. The property is less than an hour?s drive from Halifax International Airport, and only 40 minutes from Halifax city centre.
The Cottage By The Sea:
Built on the original homestead in 1803 and lovingly restored, the building provides guests with modern comforts in a cottage setting overlooking the glorious Atlantic Ocean.
Surrounded by trees, you will enjoy total peace and seclusion, yet you have a wonderful view across the bay. Honeymoon or a well-deserved escape, you couldn't find a place more conducive to romance. And with no telephones to disturb your relaxation you will have ample opportunity to unwind from the stresses of day-to-day life. The bedroom ? with comfortable convertible King-sized bed ? and the 3-piece bathroom are located downstairs. While one of the upstairs sofas can be converted into a bed, the arrangement is really best for couples?but do as you please!
Driftwood House:
Are you looking for a cozy home-away-from-home that has a character all of its own? Well look no further! Original wooden floors and fittings throughout, this circa 1850 house has been lovingly restored and decorated to blend in with its natural surroundings.
The main floor is open plan with a three-sided wood burning fireplace which faces into the kitchen, living room and dining area. The living room is decorated with original paintings by Canadian artists, plush oversized sofas and chairs, an antique rug, and rustic wooden tables. Throw open the curtains and enjoy the views from many windows, whether it's the lighthouse across the bay, mature trees across the lawn or the verdant garden. The whole setting lends itself to a wonderful sense of privacy.
If the weather keeps you indoors, you can always stoke up the fireplace and curl up on the sofa with your favourite book or watch a rented movie on the television and VCR. We do have many lovely sunny days too, which are perfectly suited to firing up the barbeque and enjoying your meal on the large back deck.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a four-piece bathroom. The master bedroom boasts a rustic log-framed queen sized bed with complimentary side tables, dressers and mirrors. The second bedroom, though smaller in size with a double bed, is very cosy and enjoys ocean views that occupants can admire from the second they open their eyes.

Cottage By The Sea:
May 28th to Sept 3rd is $1000 Cdn per week. Any other time of year is $850 Cdn per week. Divide by seven for Daily Rates. $20 extra per person per night for more than 3 adult guests.
Driftwood House:
May 28th to July 2nd is $1600 Cdn per week. July 2nd to Sept 3rd is $1800 Cdn per week. Any other time of year is $1400 Cdn per week. Divide by seven for Daily Rates. $20 extra per person per night for more than 4 adult guests.
Rates quoted are subject to applicable taxes (HST at 15%). HST is fully refundable to out-of-country guests under the visitor rebate program.
All reservations require a valid credit card for confirmation. Deposits are 25% of the value of the reservation. For the balance we will happily accept cash, cheque, Visa or Mastercard. A credit card fee of 3.0% will be applied to all credit card transactions.
Cancellations:
Due to the short season in Nova Scotia, once you confirm your reservation with a deposit you own that time slot. We will happily provide a full refund of your deposit if cancellations are made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date. If you cancel between 30 and 60 days prior to your arrival date you may lose your deposit if we cannot refill that time slot. Regrettably, less than 30 days notice and we may have to charge your full rental fee unless we can refill the time slot.
